What is FBT?

FBT is an evidence-based approach that places the family at the center of the healing process, empowering loved ones to play an active role in supporting recovery. FBT is all about:

  • Empowering families to support their loved one’s recovery.
  • Improving communication and understanding within the family unit.
  • Restoring healthy relationships and addressing conflicts.
  • Providing tools and strategies to manage and overcome challenges.

How we use fbt to treat mental health conditions

FBT is primarily used to treat eating disorders, but it can also be applied to address several other mental health conditions.

  • Eating Disorders: Help families take an active role in re-establishing healthy eating patterns and providing emotional support.
  • Substance Use Disorders (SUD): Strengthen family connections and create a supportive environment for lasting recovery.
  • Anxiety Disorders: Address how family dynamics can play a role in both contributing to and easing anxiety symptoms.
  • Depression: Foster understanding and collaboration within the family to support healing.
  • Trauma: Help families process and heal from the impact of traumatic events together.
  • Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD): Equip families with tools to navigate emotional challenges and build stronger relationships.

FBT is designed to meet the specific needs of each family, making sure the approach to recovery is both personalized and effective.
